DR ANASTASIA HRONIS

Dr Anastasia is a clinical psychologist and founder of the Australian Institute for Human Wellness. She is a practicing clinician, as well as a researcher and lecturer at the University of Technology Sydney. She has published in a number of prestigious academic journals, and has presented on her research at national and international conferences across the UK, USA, Canada and Europe. She has presented at a number of national and international conferences, and has published research in top rated journals.
She holds a Bachelor of Psychology degree with First Class Honours from the University of Sydney, and a Master of Clinical Psychology degree and PhD from the University of Technology Sydney. Through Anastasia’s PhD she developed and evaluated a therapy program for children with intellectual disabilities.
Anastasia is also the author of The Dopamine Brain, now available for pre-order. The Dopamine Brain offers a clear and practical way to help people find balance and harmony in their lives. The book is divided into three parts that weaves in the latest research in neuroscience and psychology, case studies and reflective questions. The first part delves into the inner workings of the brain, helping you understand how dopamine works and identify activities that dopamine might have you hooked on. This next part encourages you to explore and reflect on your core values and building a life that is meaningful, enduring and satisfying. The last part will help you to make the change with the help of sound psychological techniques.
Anastasia’s particular area of work is in addictions, including alcohol, drugs, smoking, vaping, gambling, gaming, pornography, sex, and shopping addictions. The main therapeutic modalities that Anastasia used are CBT, DBT and schema therapy. Anastasia also has a passion for working with rural and remote communities, and travels out to Far West NSW and across the country providing training to mental health services. Anastasia also sees clients presenting with mood concerns, trauma, PTSD, OCD and more.
Anastasia was the lead researcher in the development of a therapy program specifically for children with disabilities. She has also been involved in research projects specific to problem gambling and the responsible consumption of gambling in collaboration with Southern Cross University and the University of Queensland. Anastasia is currently an associate editor of the peer reviewed Springer journal Discover Psychology.
Anastasia is also a trained classical concert pianist, and provides performance coaching and consultations, as well as running workshops and masterclasses for those in the performing arts industry. She has performed on stages around the world including the Sydney Opera House seven times, and the internationally renowned Carnegie Hall in New York. Anastasia has been awarded her Associate Diploma and Licentiate Diploma in Music.
